For visual learners, utilizing Bubbl.us might assist with the construction of a content map. For more linear learners, a simple outline may suffice, and those collaborating as a group might prefer to incorporate Google docs in the mapping process.

I created a English Language Arts Content Map on Bubbl.us. Here is the picture.
